Beaches in Umag
The beaches in and around Umag are diverse – a mix of pebble and rocky beaches, bathing platforms, and sunbathing lawns. Many areas gently slope into the sea, making them ideal for families with children.
Glavna Beach (Punta): Approximately 800 meters from ACI Marina. A gently sloping pebble beach with crystal-clear water, sunbed rental, playground, beach volleyball, restaurants, and bars.
Laguna Stella Maris: Surrounded by pine trees, family-friendly, and only 1 km from the marina. Well equipped with sports and leisure facilities as well as dining options.
Polynesia Beach: Located below the Katoro holiday resort, about 1.5 km north of the marina. Rocky and concrete sections, two pools, awarded the Blue Flag.
Afrika Beach / Baracuda: About 2 km south of the marina. Popular with locals, natural and unspoiled, featuring a pine grove, beach volleyball, and two beach bars.
Along the Riviera, you will also find numerous additional bathing bays, nudist beaches, dog-friendly beaches, and accessible areas for guests with special needs.
Places of Interest
Old Town of Umag: A walk through the old town feels like a small journey back in time. Narrow, romantic streets, remnants of ancient city walls, and historic buildings tell stories of past centuries. Cafés, restaurants, and the green Humagum Park invite you to relax and linger.
Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary & Bell Tower of St. Pellegrinus: Located on the main square, Trg Slobode, the Baroque parish church from 1757 rises alongside its 33-meter-high bell tower – a landmark of the city and a popular viewpoint.
Umag Town Museum: Housed in the former 14th-century Bishop’s Tower. The museum features historical and archaeological finds as well as rotating art and special exhibitions.
Humagum Park: A green oasis of tranquility along the promenade, featuring a playground, fitness equipment, and beautiful views of the sea.
Ancient Remains of Sepomaia (Katoro & Sipar): A former Roman settlement with floor mosaics and remnants of ancient coastal structures – today one of the region’s most fascinating archaeological sites.
Savudrija Lighthouse: Located about 9 km north of Umag, it is the oldest still-active lighthouse in Croatia (36 m high, early 19th century). A popular excursion destination with beautiful nearby beaches.


Sports & Activities in Umag
Diving & Snorkeling: Crystal-clear waters and numerous spots along the Riviera make Umag a paradise for divers. Popular dive sites include Cape Monte Rosso, the wreck of the Gilda, and the warship Romorker. Recommended: Subaquatic Diving Center on Savudrijska Cesta (Stella Maris).
Aquapark Istralandia: Located about 20 km from Umag, Aquapark Istralandia covers 80,000 m² and offers numerous water slides, pools, and attractions for the whole family.
Hiking & Cycling: Around Umag, numerous promenades and trails lead through vineyards and olive groves. Particularly popular is the former Parenzana railway line, now a panoramic route for hikers and cyclists. Nine marked routes in northern Istria offer tours for all levels.
Tennis & Padel: With over 60 tennis courts and the internationally renowned ATP tournament Plava Laguna Croatia Open, Umag is considered the tennis center of Croatia. Modern padel courts and beginner courses are also available.
Golf: Just a few kilometers north of Umag lies the 18-hole Savudrija Golf Course, offering stunning views of the coastline – one of the most beautiful courses in the country.
Further Activities: Umag offers a wide range of sports and fun activities, including football, beach volleyball, jet skiing, windsurfing, pedal boating, go-karting, paintball, and the Stella Maris Adventure Park.
Many beaches also feature inflatable water parks for extra seaside fun.

ACI Marina Umag is located in the northern part of the town harbor and stands out for its high level of comfort for boaters. Open all year round, it offers modern facilities and accommodates boats up to 60 meters in length, providing everything sailors need for a pleasant stay and proper maintenance of their vessels.
